inflamed. Blocking these cells and chemicals can reduce inflammation.
Depo- Medrol can be used to treat many different types of health
problems. Joint pain is just one of the conditions it can help.
Indications/Usage:
Your
doctor may suggest a shot of DEPO-MEDROL if you have joint pain caused by an
injury, flares of pain caused by osteoarthritis (OA) If Depo-Medrol relieves
your symptoms but the pain comes back later, tell your doctor. If it helped you
once, it could help you through a flare-up of symptoms again. In fact, experts
say that some joints may be injected 3 to 4 times a year. Your doctor is the
best person to decide if having more injections is right for you.
Side
Effects:
The
side effects that may occur include: pain after the injection, joint disease,
tearing of a tendon, joint infection, thinning of the skin where the injection
was administered, and joint inflammation. If you see any of these side effects,
or others, occurring contact your doctor. You should also speak with your
doctor if you experience unusual redness, swelling, fever, or chills.

Depo-Medrol
is not for premature infants. The reason is that it contains benzyl alcohol.
Benzyl alcohol may be related to a serious breathing problem. When you are
given this type of medicine, it may be hard to tell if you have an infection.
Also, you could get a new infection. Infections may be more common with higher
doses of this type of medicine. Having more injections could, in some cases,
make the joint unstable.
