Description:
Dysport has been approved to improve the look of moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines between the eyebrows) in adults younger than 65 years of age for up to 4 months. After Dysport is injected injected into the muscles that control facial expression the medicine stops the tightening of these muscles.
Indications/Usage:
Dysport is a neuromuscular blocking agent and an acetycholine release inhibitor. It can be used for cervical dystonia to the minimize the severity of abnormal neck pain and the position of the head in previously treated patients. Dysport can also be used to the temporarily improve the appearance of the moderate to severe glabellar lines associated with aging and corrugators muscle activity in adult patients.
Precautions:
Do not take Dysport if you are allergic to cow’s milk protein; had an allergic reaction to any botulinum toxin product such Myobloc or Botox. If you have a skin infection at the planned injection site, you should not use Dysport.
Also, if you have a disease that affects your muscles and nerves, such as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease, myasthenia gravis or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, or a breathing problem, such as asthma or emphysema, swallowing problems, bleeding problems, diabetes, a slow heartbeat or other problem with your heart rate or rhythm, drooping eyelids, weakness of your forehead muscles.
Side
Effects:
Possible side effects include – dry mouth, discomfort at injection site, fatigue, headache, neck pain, muscle pain. Eye problems which include blurry vision, decreased eyesight, focusing issues, drooping eyelid, and/or swelling eyelids are other potential side effects that may occur. Other possible side effects are itching, rash, red welts, wheezing, asthma symptoms, dizziness, and/or feeling faint.
